See my earlier messages. I'm still here at 81 years, having left Silver Street in 1954 before going on to King Edwards. I now have an incurable rare disease and have little time left (or so the doctors tell me. However I still have my daily school diaries for 1952 and 1953 which I will pass on to my grandson as well as some of my work books, marked by Mrs Matthews, and to a minor extent illustrate what a good School it was.

Hi - another ex-pupil here of Silverstreet/Silvermead School 1961-1967 - fond memories of Miss Aishfield (apart from the time I had to stand outside her room for chucking a blackboard rubber!) - fabulous musical concerts & orchestra & choir. Always entered the annual Herefordshire Music Competition.
Mrs Elcock, Mrs Harvey, Mr Trowbridge, Old Pop Wright, Miss Yeomans and Mr Thomas who tried to teach me the violin.
The best long ice slides in winter, cold outside toilets and the brick air raid shelter which was out of bounds, but easy to sneak into! Walking to St Mary's for the Christmas Service and the choir walking into the church singing 'Once in Royal David's City' and having to stand on a block in the pulpit to shout out my regular 'party piece' reading St Luke 2, chapter 2. Happy Days!

I attended Silvermead from 1966-70. Many happy memories and good friends. I remember Ms Mantell and Ms Teague, as well as Pop Wright and the dour Mr Trowbridge. Summers seemed endless, just like the playing fields. Couldn't stand the school dinners which put me off many vegetables for life:)

I was at Silvermead School from 1963 to 1968 - one of my abiding memories was being in Mr Trowbridge's class . I have a feeling he may sadly have died sometime in the 1970s. I am trying to find out more - does anyone know his first name?

Attended Silver Street from 1947-48 then on to Redditch County High.
Lived in Three Oaks Road. Headmaster Mr. Matthews and his wife taught there too. Good friend Ben Clewley at the time. Peter Warren lived on a local farm.

I went to Silvermead 1964-1970. I remember feeling overwhelmed by the darkness of the place with its high ceilings and wood everywhere! I remember Miss Ashfield, Mrs Burrows. I remember "pink" dinner ladies. Miss Teague, the welsh music teacher. The playground and air-raid shelters, the massive playing field! Hopscotch, tag etc. The tuckshop! Innocent carefree days, with still some life long friends ...

Mention of the Mansell family (No 34) reminds me that Peter Mansell was in the Boy Scout Troop based in the Immanuel School, the annex of Silver Street. Peter and I did our two day trek together to earn our First Class Badges. I still have the Log Book.I was also a friend of Neil Ashton and have recently been in touch with Rob Maddocks. I worked at Becketts for a while and my sister lived in Chapel Green Farm next to St Mary's Church.
