As a home boy from Ortley South Dakota I appreciate the effort you
made to create this site. Its refreshing to see someone taking an
interest in Ortley. I lived in Ortley for the better part of 18 years
before leaving for the Army and to this day miss the place dearly
even tho I get back to see the folks once or twice a year. Have alot
of great memories of swimming in the Ortley pond diving off the
dock, hanging out and eating choke cherries near the Melanders,
snatching apples off Selma Grindes trees plus Swensons, riding on
the hay trailer with my Granpa Miller, shooting pool and watching
the old timers play cards, and the list goes on and on. |

I would sure like some current news about my hometown of Ortley.
I heard that BJ's cafe closed..bummer.
Does anyone have any news about how the big storm damaged Ortley?

When I went to college, the registrars thought I was trying
to be funny when I told them that my address was "PO Box 1"
in Ortley. I guess they didn't realize that SOMEBODY had
to have "Box 1" in a small town... |
